Nextnel GmbH has acquired the main intangible assets of the insolvent eScooter manufacturer IO Hawk Invest GmbH as part of an asset deal. The transaction will ensure the availability of spare parts for several thousand vehicles in Germany and Europe. In the course of this, Nextnel will also further develop the existing vehicles and operate at two locations in Germany and one location in Asia. The operational management will be realigned. Nextnel GmbH is in close contact with the KBA regarding the takeover of the authorizations. These also serve to provide customers with to provide vehicle documents for your insurance company or you to inform about special features.

Restructuring and integration into Nextnel
The primary aim is to ensure the availability of spare parts for the IO Hawk models and to offer repair services. With this acquisition, Nextnel is pursuing its buy-and-build strategy in the area of eScooter manufacturers and at the same time strengthening its commitment to the German eMobility market. This is the company's first investment in this sector. The Chinese Manufacturer Tao Motors exclusively supports Nextnel. Once the transaction has been completed, the focus will be on stabilizing the business model, growing sales and realizing synergies within the existing portfolio.

Difficult discussions with suppliers and integration into Nextnel

The talks on the supplier side were initially extremely difficult, but thanks to the high level of personal commitment of the former management of IO Hawk Invest GmbH  We are pleased to announce that not only is the availability of spare parts guaranteed, but that the existing models are also being developed further. A team is already on site for this purpose and is in regular contact with suppliers and subcontractors.

As part of the asset deal, Nextnel GmbH has also taken over the existing product portfolio of IO Hawk Invest GmbH and will continue to expand it together with its suppliers. The first air freight deliveries of spare parts have already arrived, and new deliveries are now following on a weekly basis. The portfolio is expected to be realigned from Q2 2026, when we will present electromobility solutions that are largely assembled in Germany.

The aim is to provide customers with tailor-made solutions in the context of electromobility, in addition to individualization.

In future, e-scooters and other electric mobility devices will be manufactured at Odilia-von-Goch-Strasse 16, 47839 Krefeld in Hall 6.

Nextnel GmbH has also set up a service and repair office in Mülheim an der Ruhr, which customers can contact.

The primary goal of this reorientation is: quality instead of quantity and service first. In this context, Nextnel GmbH relies on close supplier relationships and a network of employees directly on site as well as the further development of existing vehicles.

” The primary goal is the constant availability of spare parts and, in a further step, the further development of existing models”

IO Hawk filed for insolvency at the end of September 2025. The reasons given were a lack of insurance benefits and the resulting lack of liquidity. By taking over Nextnel, business operations are now to be stabilized in the long term and transferred to a new growth phase.
